Staff Report

In the world of food and entertainment, bringing people together for something new and different is increasingly challenging. The “food and wine” collab event has become increasingly popular and shows no signs of letting up.

Earnisha Randolph, CEO of Juanita’s Kitchen, is about to do something drastically different in South Florida. Borrowing from the live musical theater restaurant vibe is Sweet Butter Pop Up Restaurant. The idea is to bring a four-course pop-up culinary experience with fresh, farm to table ingredients, desserts and unique drink cocktails to a dining experience that includes singing, dancing and live music.

“Growing up, I thought everybody had access to what I had,” Earnisha Randolph explained. “Good authentic southern cuisine.” For the one night only, Feb. 10 event, “I’m bringing a whole southern experience,” that she said is “lacking in South Florida, we’re detached from Carolinas. New Orleans still has that culture.” Randolph explained that although Miami is geographically southern, there are food nuances and experiences that are quintessentially southern that Miamians do not experience. She thanks her grandparents for keeping her connected to the true southern culinary culture.

Although she’s planning to open a “bricks and mortar” restaurant next year, Randolph said she’s planning to share the pop-up experience throughout the year in different locations.

“This is something special,” she shared. “The menu is very diverse.”

She offered a glimpse of the menu while promoting the event during a radio show appearance. In addition to a kale salad that she said is good enough to be an entrée, the actual entrees include southern fried catfish, free range fried chicken and short ribs. She will also include gumbo (traditional and vegan) as well as chicken and dumplings and her flavorful version of grits.

The 8 p.m. show is sold out; however, tickets for the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows remain, but are going fast.
