Seven-time Grammy award winner Kirk Franklin, who blends gospel, hip-hop and soul, dominates Billboard gospel charts and is racking up more hits – including Wanna Be Happy? and 123 Victory, since the release of his album Losing My Religion – will be bringing his anointing to West Palm Beach’s Kravis Center on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $15.

The Texas native, who led an adult church choir when he was just 11-years-old, hosts BET’s gospel singing competition show Sunday Best. Presented by the Kravis Center’s Community Relations Committee, the Gospel Gala is a soul-stirring annual event that seeks to uplift and inspire. When asked what attendees who come to his show could expect, Franklin told the South Florida Times it would be “an incredible night of celebration, reminding people of who is in control!”

The gifted artist said he wants people to walk away knowing that being a Christian doesn’t equate to being boring.

“You can love God and still have a great time and … your faith doesn’t have to be set on a shelf, when it comes to your joy,” Franklin said.

Franklin also said his success stems from being a vessel used by the Lord.

“I believe that God is the songwriter, I’m the pen and the world is the paper. I try to live in that posture everyday,” he said.

Franklin said South Florida’s amazing weather is his favorite thing about visiting. He also stated his viewpoint about the role the church should play in social issues.

“The church should be the microphone, because we have the heart of Christ,” he said.

Franklin was not specific about what he has coming up next, but he did note he would follow God’s leading, steward it well and stay in his lane.

“We are just going to see what God brings to the table next, and that I am a good steward over it,” Franklin said. “I only want to tackle what I am supposed to tackle; I just want to make sure, that I’m on the right team.”
