The former head of Miami-Dade’s transit system has been elected national chairman of the Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO).


Roosevelt Bradley, who will serve for the 2010-2012 term, has been a COMTO member for 27 years. Over the past eight years, he has served in various positions on the National Board, including secretary/treasurer, second vice chairman and first vice chairman.

COMTO was founded in 1971 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., to provide a forum for senior-level minority professionals in the transportation industry.

“As we work as a nation towards job creation and small business participation, the work of COMTO is more relevant today than ever,”  Bradley said.

Most recently, Bradley served as senior vice president with The Allen Group, providing national consulting services in transportation system planning, development, construction and operations.

Prior to that, he held several administrative positions with Miami-Dade Transit. As director, he led the agency into a period of expansion and growth and played an important role in garnering public support for the People's Transportation Plan, a half-cent sales tax increase dedicated to transportation in Miami-Dade County that generates nearly $170 million annually.

Bradley has a bachelor's in Politics and Public Affairs from the University of Miami.
