NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Two South Carolina candidates hoping to make history say they will work to oppose federal health care legislation if they are elected.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley and fellow Republican Tim Scott attended a rally together in North Charleston on Thursday.
Haley is trying to become the first woman governor in state history. Scott hopes to become the first black Republican congressman since the 1800s.
Haley says she'll work with other Republican governors to oppose the federal health care legislation.
Scott says he opposes the requirements in the health care legislation. He says Republicans may not have enough votes to overturn the laws, but he hopes they'll have enough votes to block funding for the programs.
