barack-obama_web.jpgTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ The U.S. Health and Human Services Department has approved 121 employers and unions in Florida for assistance in paying for early retirees' medical insurance.

That was the total after 52 Florida entities were among a second round of approvals announced Monday.

The reinsurance program, part of President Barack Obama's national health care overhaul, covers retirees age 55 and up who aren't yet eligible for Medicare.

The Florida participants include cities, counties and school districts.

There also are some well-known private employers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, the American Automobile Association, CSX, Harris Corp., Ryder System, St. Joe Co., Wackenhut Corp. and Tupperware Brands.
