Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson helped get District 3 children back-to-school ready at the 10th annual District 3 Back to School Fun Day/Health and Info Fair on Aug. 13 at Olinda Park. Two thousand children received new book bags filled with school supplies at the event, which also offered vaccines by the Florida Health Dept., a free food distribution by Farm Share, free eye exams by the Miami Lighthouse and free flu shots by Walgreen’s.

Government and health information from local organizations including pet adoptions by Miami-Dade Animal Services, library cards and books by the Miami-Dade Library and activities by History Miami and the Frost Museum of Science were also a part of the event. Children also got to explore a Miami-Dade Police Department helicopter and enjoyed a bounce house, music, raffles and free hot dogs and refreshments.
