Crist obtained the Florida Cabinet's unanimous approval Tuesday for Drew's appointment.

The governor previously named Drew interim secretary to replace Mike Sole, who resigned effective Sept. 10. Crist did not need Cabinet approval for the interim appointment.

Drew previously served as the agency's deputy secretary of regulatory programs and as director of water resource management.

She said she was "committed to ensuring Florida's dynamic natural resources, state lands, waterbodies and beaches are protected and continue to rank among the most beautiful natural treasures in the world.''
