MIAMI, Fla – The Southeast Overtown/ Park West Community Redevelopment Agency has awarded the local youth organization, Urgent Inc. with a $205,000 grant for the continuation and expansion of the F.A.C.E. Summer Youth Employment & Training Program. The grant will fund a 7-week summer apprenticeship / internship program for 60 youth who are between the ages of 14 to 24 and reside within the SEOPW Redevelopment Area boundaries.
The F.A.C.E. program which acronym stands for Film, Arts & Culture, Coding and Entrepreneurship, will provide a unique opportunity for youth in Overtown to earn money this summer and obtain real work experience in the above mentioned career sectors. The program will also include job coaching, community service, and leadership development sessions.
The CRA intends, through its funding of the FACE program and other similar job training programs, to help reduce unemployment and create future career opportunities for local residents.
