Stop the Violence: The Belafonte TACOLCY Center and Empowered Youth Neighborhoods (EYN) host 911: Hear Our Voices. The community forum will examine the problem of youth violence by giving a voice to young people who have been actual offenders of crimes. The discussion will include youth from Empowered Youth Neighborhoods, all of whom have been juvenile offenders, as well as retired police officers, community leaders, and concerned residents. Invited guests include: Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle; Juvenile Judge Orlando Prescott; Miami-Dade Department of Juvenile Justice Superintendent Cornelius Faulk; Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Secretary Frank Peterman; and former NFL player Barrett Green, among others. Women’s Empowerment Conference: The National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s Greater Miami Chapter presents its 2010 Women's Empowerment Conference on the theme “Women on the Move, Breaking Barriers.” The conference will include a panel discussion on health and wellness and financial planning. Miami-Dade Com-missioner Barbara Jordan will be honored for her work in the county, and Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami (FANM – Haitian Women of Miami) for their efforts in Haiti. Happy birthday Cannonball Adderley: Movie clips of the jazz great’s performances and recordings of his music will be presented.
