BALTIMORE (AP) _ Lawyers for Baltimore city and Wells Fargo will be back in court Wednesday, arguing whether the city's revised lawsuit against the mortgage giant should go forward.
A federal judge threw out the city's initial claim against Wells Fargo, which accused the lender of targeting black neighborhoods for bad loans that cost the city millions of dollars.
But U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz ruled it was implausible to hold Wells Fargo responsible for the deterioration of the inner city.
Baltimore then filed a new, narrower complaint that outlines specific costs arising from 190 vacant, foreclosed homes.
Wells Fargo says the new lawsuit should also be dismissed, arguing that it's essentially the same complaint. Motz will hear arguments Wednesday on Wells Fargo's motion to dismiss.
