Fort Lauderdale — The Children’s Services Council of Broward County has released the 2010-2011 annual edition of the Broward County Family Resource Guide.
The 10th annual edition was produced in partnership with Kessler Creative and includes complete and updated listings of licensed providers serving Broward County.
Sponsored by the Children Services Council of Broward County and The Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, 120,000 copies will be distributed free throughout the community.
Distribution channels include sponsors and advertisers, Winn Dixie supermarkets, CVS stores, hospitals, pediatricians, obstetrician/gynecologists, and retail locations that serve families.
The guide provides information on child care centers, school age programs, special needs assistance, and family child care home providers sorted by city and zip code.
Included in this information are days and hours of operation and whether a provider participates in the VPK program.
Parents can also find out if a care provider offers a before school and/or after school program and whether the provider is accredited. The 128-page publication also includes articles on the types of child care available, children’s health and safety, family life and development. The articles are presented in English, Spanish, Creole and Portuguese.
The Community Resources section lists a variety of important phone numbers, including numbers such as family support services, health care, and special needs services. With 16 pages of the most important resources available in the community, parents will find all of the answers they need. Kessler Creative has created similar directories for municipalities across the country. The company started in 1998 when it published the Family Almanac, a 176-page, digest-sized comprehensive guide to Florida resources.
Businesses and organizations interested in advertising in future publications can contact Keith Kessler at 904-346-3898, ext. 12.
The Children’s Services Council, located at 6600 W. Commercial Blvd., Lauderhill, focuses on Broward’s children and was created by voters in September, 2000. It provides leadership, advocacy, and funding for services for and on behalf of children.
The council’s programs are delivered by more than 100 provider agencies that have clearly defined goals and outcomes and are regularly monitored for quality and performance.
On average, the agency gets less than 2 cents of every dollar paid in property taxes and that amount funds a wide variety of programs designed to help children lead a healthy, safe and productive life.
