MIAMI – The month may only be a week old, but it’s already set records in Miami-Dade County.

The National Weather Service says that through Saturday, Miami’s rainfall totals already rank as the third wettest in recorded history with a total of 7.67 inches.

Only the Decembers of 1929 and 1905 have been wetter.  A stalled front is behind the soggy South Florida weather.

A steady rainfall over the area on Saturday brought 2.4 inches in West Palm Beach, 4.8 inches in Fort Lauderdale, 2.9 inches in Miami and 8.5 inches in West Kendall.
