For students interested in applying to one of the magnet programs in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the application process has begun. Kicking off on Oct. 1, students can apply until the Jan. 15 deadline for a number of magnet programs throughout the county.

The fastest way to apply is online. Parents may do so by accessing the Parent Portal at dadeschools.net and clicking on the magnet application link. Online applications are processed instantly into the application system.

Students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average and can apply for a spot at up to five programs at five different schools; one program per school.

In all schools, except the Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) magnet schools, the selection process is done by a random selection of the eligible applicants. VPA magnet schools require auditions and students are selected as a result of their auditions.

Parents are notified of the results of the random selection process on or about March 15. If parents have any questions on the results, they must contact the individual schools directly.
