The history of Sistrunk Boulevard. began with the formation of Fort Lauderdale.

Over the years, this community has witnessed Sistrunk evolve and prosper: businesses begin, grow and then are gone, and some remain for decades and continue to thrive; children grow-up using Sistrunk as their Main-Street, and generations identify Sistrunk as a core part of their history .

On Saturday, September 19 from 4:30pm-7:30pm, all of the history of Sistrunk will be collected and on display as the City of Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Community Redevelopment Agency, and the Historic Sistrunk Community Council  host “From Past to Present Historic Sistrunk Collection Day Party. The event will be held at the Fort Lauderdale Negro Chamber of Commerce, 1021 NW 6th St. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311. Residents should bring all of their photos, documents, videos and memories for video recording to the event and help build the history of Sistrunk.
