Miami-Dade School Board Member Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2), along with the Miami Marlins Ayudan Foundation and Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, helped to distribute book bags and school supplies to all students enrolled at Lenora Braynon Smith Elementary School, Melrose Elementary School, and Santa Clara Elementary School. Representatives from both organizations included the following items in each book bag; notebook paper, composition books, pencils, markers, crayons, rulers, and folders. Billy the Marlin, the Marlins’ team mascot, gave the students “Hi-Fives” as they collected their school supplies. “As a former elementary school principal, I am always excited to visit our schools to ensure a successful start to the academic school year,” said Bendross-Mindingall. “I am so grateful for the support of the Miami Marlins and Kiwanis Club of Little Havana for providing much needed school supplies for our children. Working together with organizations like the Miami Marlins and Kiwanis Club stresses the importance of giving back to our students.”
