Nearly 1,000 children from the Little Haiti area were treated to live entertainment, face painting and free haircuts and health screenings Thursday at Little Haiti Soccer Park as part of the annual Back 2 School celebration. Sponsors of the event are the Little Haiti Optimist Club, The Little Haiti/Edison/Little River Neighborhood Enhancement Team, The Green Family Foundation and community businesses and organizations. In addition, the children received backpacks, school supplies and lunch. A spokesman with the Green Family Foundation said, “This event is all about making sure that students are ready for the start of school.”
