MIAMI (AP) _ Art Basel has a new director who will concentrate solely on the art world in the Americas.
The global organization which operates annual art fairs in Miami Beach, Switzerland and Hong Kong announced Tuesday that 35-year-old Noah Horowitz will begin the new position in August. He has been executive director of the Armory Show in New York for the past four years.
The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/1Dgleej ) reports Art Basel Director Marc Spiegler says the organization’s leaders had been discussing the value of having a director who could oversee art in the Americas.
Horowitz called the opportunity “incredibly exciting” and hopes to help take the Miami art fair to the next level.
Art Basel will hold its 14th show in December in Miami Beach. Last year more than 73,000 people attended.
