TALLAHASSEE (AP) — Leveraging the controversy over federal health care reform, Republican Bill McCollum has opened a double-digit lead over Democrat Alex Sink in the 2010 governor's race.
The Mason-Dixon Polling & Research survey shows McCollum, the state's attorney general, holding a 49 percent to 34 percent advantage over Sink, Florida's chief financial officer.
McCollum has been a relentless critic of the Obama administration's health care law. Last week, he joined some other state attorneys general in suing to block it. The poll found that 54 percent of Floridians oppose the law.
The poll of 625 registered Florida voters, released Monday, was conducted March 23-25 for several Florida media outlets. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
