PITTSBURGH (AP) _ A developer has unveiled plans to convert a former retail mall in Pittsburgh into a hub for technology startups called Nova Place.
Faros Properties on Thursday announced plans to renovate the 1.2 million-square-foot office complex and add a conference center, new restaurants and other facilities.
Officials say it will be one of the largest redevelopment projects in the country.
Allegheny Center is about 50 percent occupied with corporate tenants. Officials hope to increase occupancy to 95 percent.
The company says Innovation Works, a technology company, has signed a lease to occupy 12,000 square feet within the complex.
The redevelopment plan also includes a path through the complex that will link Downtown and the North Side.
