AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Texas state officials and high school coaches are launching a program aimed at student athletes on awareness and prevention of sexual assault and domestic abuse.

The ProtectHer Project will initially target public high school athletes but will eventually be expanded to include all students.

The early-intervention project seeks to address attitudes about sexual assault at the middle and high school level. It will include an instructional video and other teaching materials. It will be privately funded, including a $25,000 donation from the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

Officials hope to produce the video in time to distribute to the Texas High School Coaches Association annual meeting this summer. Other instructional materials will come later.

The project is privately funded. The NBA’s Houston Rockets have already donated $25,000.
