MIAMI — Simone Cook has been named account coordinator at Sonshine Communications, one of the nation’s most successful African-American, independently-owned public relations, marketing and advertising firms. She brings several years of professional experience and diverse skill sets, the agency announced.
“We are delighted to have such a young and talented professional join our team,” said Bernadette Morris, CEO of Sonshine and Black PR Wire, Inc. “Simone will provide an array of skillful and creative communications services to our brand of corporate companies.”
Cook will work with Morris to coordinate some of the firm’s local and statewide accounts, and serve as account coordinator for Sonshine’s sister company, Black PR Wire, Inc.
“I am thrilled to now be a part of the Sonshine and Black PR Wire corporate brands,” Cook said. “My goal is to offer exceptional communications services and implement effective marketing programs to this great organization.”
Cook previously served with an internet marketing company where she was responsible for clients’ online marketing initiatives, and became proficient in search engine optimization (SEO), and WordPress-based web-design and development.
Cook also interned at a local PR agency where she supported several clients in their public relations and marketing efforts. In that position she secured media coverage, developed social media campaigns and assisted with the planning and organizations of events.
A recent graduate of Florida International University, Cook was immersed in the public relations field while earning a bachelor’s degree in Communications. Upon graduation, she played an instrumental role in creating an Integrated Marketing Communications campaign for Discovery Communications’ Spanish-language network, D Familia.
Also joining Sonshine Communications, as an account associate is Hannah Greenwood, who will assist with the agency’s client relations, copy research and writing, and in the coordination and implementation of the social media services.
“Hannah brings a fresh new approach to client services to our team,” said Sonshine CEO Morris. “We are delighted to have her on board.”
Greenwood, originally from Manchester, N.H., is a graduate of Barry University where she earned a B.A. degree in Public Relations. She has served briefly at other local PR agencies, and brings her interest in writing and event planning/implementation to her new role at Sonshine.
“I believe this position will expose me to the world of public relations with hands-on projects for our numerous clients,” Greenwood said. “I am eager to learn, develop and strengthen my skills as a successful specialist in this field.”
