Palm Beach, show your support for talented youth from the area, Sunday, Aug. 10 at BB King’s Blues Club in West Palm Beach. Headlining an all-ages showcase is Micailah Lockhart, a graduate of the A. W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts.

This five-octave vocal prodigy will take the stage in support of her debut EP, Shine, Love Micailah, which was released Feb. 23. The teenager organized the show herself, she said.

Micailah, 18, has already caught the attention of Marc Shaiman – Tony Award winning, Grammy and Academy Award nominated composer and musical director of the hit NBC TV show: SMASH and the hit Broadway musical Hairspray – who is one of her mentors. She considers herself an inspirational artist, though her roots are in gospel music. “I am not provocative enough for R&B,” she said.

She will perform with her comrades: The Climax Band with an opening set by the Steel Drum Youth Band, from the community outreach center known as Faith’s Place.
