Kristen Ashburn – I Am Because We Are: Kristen Ashburn, an award-winning photojournalist, presents her book of images, I Am Because We Are.’’ The book is made up of images of her work in Malawi, and follows the lives of eight Malawian children. It reveals the reality of the AIDS pandemic throughout southern Africa. The novel is actually a companion piece to a recently released documentary of the same name. Alvin Ailey American Dance: When Alvin Ailey founded his famed company in 1957, one wonders if he knew how famous and influential it would become? The company, now known as the “Cultural Ambassador to the World,” is currently on an international tour to celebrate its 50th anniversary!
