The Links Inc., Greater Miami Chapter, recently hosted opening night of The Mountaintop at GableStage at the Biltmore in Coral Gables. More than 70 Links members and their special guests were lifted to new heights by the Olivier Award-winning two-character play, which centers around the last full night of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life.

Adorned in regal red and gold, the ladies of Eta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Alpha Gamma Chapter, celebrated their 46th annual Founders’ Day at a luncheon at the elegant Renaissance Ballroom in Miami on March 29. Committed to community service and nurturing the disadvantaged, the sorority sisters presented an uplifting program to celebrate their mission. The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the 2014 Unsung Heroine award to Patricia Harper Garrett. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund and developmentally disabled children. Debra Hines is the chapter president, and Janet Symonette served as the event chairperson. Special guests included Collette McCurdy-Jackson, Southeastern regional director of Eta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and Bea Hines, honorary member. Others seen on the scene were: Shirley Clark, Sylvia Garner, Alicia Lancaster, Daseline McPhee (co-chairperson), Twyla Miller, Rosette Nelson, Joanne Parks, Larry Rogers, Lynette Rogers, Leelila Troutman, Julia Tynes, Theotis Worthey, and Michelle Wyatt-Sweeting.
