So here is how some of Hollywood’s black stars spent the days leading up to Sunday’s Academy Awards: they sipped on Rémy Martin cocktails and ate dinner prepared by Chef de Cuisine, Hope Bailey.
Called the “Alfre Woodard and Rémy Martin Annual Oscars Sistahs Soiree,” the intimate gathering honored Academy Award nominee Lupita Nyong’o (Nyong’o won best supporting actress Sunday night), Oprah Winfrey, Yolanda Ross and Naomie Harris for their achievements and contribution to film in 2013. Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, Angela Bassett, Aisha Tyler, Gabourey Sidibe, Rosario Dawson, Mo’Nique, Regina King, Adepero Oduye, Chandra Wilson and more came together last Wednesday for this annual event to celebrate one another and toast the evening’s honorees.
And of course, the shindig was held at some posh, undisclosed private residence in Beverly Hills.
While we couldn’t get you an invitation to next year’s party we are giving you the next best thing: the recipe to one of the hit cocktails of the night named in honor of Oprah, the O’de Vie, created by Martin Cole of British Bartenders.
O’ de Vie
10-15 Mint leaves
2 sprigs of Thyme
2 oz Rémy Martin VSOP
1.5 oz white peach puree
0.5 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz simple syrup
1.5 oz Club Soda
Muddle mint and thyme in a cocktail shaker. Add the Rémy Martin VSOP, peach purée, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake over ice. Strain into a wine glass over ice, top with club soda and garnish with a sprig of mint.
