Gayle A. Corrigan told the Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1dqOXop) Thursday that she recently visited Safe Haven, a homeless shelter in Pawtucket run by the Urban League that had problems including employees not paid for months, no heat and other issues that jeopardized residents' safety.

Richard Godfrey, Rhode Island Housing's executive director, declined to discuss Corrigan's firing.

Dennis Langley, president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Rhode Island, Thursday denied his agency had done anything that should draw the attention of law enforcement.

He says the Urban League didn't meet payroll because of lack of money.
