MIAMI—The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), a nonprofit association of black health care executives, is hosting its 28th Annual Educational Conference, Business Meeting and Exhibition, Oct. 16 – 18 at the Hyatt Regency Miami Hotel, 400 S.E. Second Ave. in Miami.
The theme, Shaping Sustainability: Innovation, Diverse Leadership and Consumer Engagement, reflects the debut of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which directly affects millions of Americans.
“The health care environment is undergoing significant change that we as leaders must prepare ourselves to fully embrace and ensure NAHSE remains at the cutting edge,” said conference co-chair Alicia Smith-Steele.
Events include a President’s Luncheon with keynote speaker Ian Smith, physician, bestselling author and TV personality, and a Leadership Luncheon with keynote speaker Valerie Montgomery-Rice, chief executive officer of the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Ga.
In keeping with its tradition of leaving the organization’s footprint in each city in which it holds its conferences, NAHSE members plan to support the Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Inc. Jefferson Reaves House Residential Program for Women, by planting a vegetable garden on the south side of the residential building, creating a flower garden at the
front of the residential building and planting a tree to commemorate the event.
Trice officials expected for the planting include Fabian Thurston, chief operating officer; Roy Thompson, vice president of Behavioral Health; Assan Njie, director of Clinical Services; and Frank Collins, director of Administrative Services.
Leading the NAHSE will be its president, Roy L. Hawkins Jr.; and local chapter officers Celesia Valentine, Baxter strategic account executive; Christie Grays, Baptist Health South Florida director of Community Relations; Jasmin Shirley, Broward Health vice president for Community Health Services; and Anthea Greaves, patient experience manager at Pediatric Associates.
