MIAMI GARDENS (BLACK PR WIRE) — Continuing in the pursuit of excellence, Florida Memorial University has welcomed four new members to the institution’s Board of Trustees.

The newly appointed board members (in alphabetical order):
Vie’ra Galloway, a senior at FMU and the president of the Student Government Association. Galloway, a native of the Caribbean Island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, is currently seeking a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Media. She also is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, and most notably, an appointed member of the Independent Colleges and Universities Presidential Fellows Program, whose advocacy includes securing the Florida Residency Access Grant (FRAG) for students. Galloway also is the managing editor of The Lion’s Tale, the official newspaper of Florida Memorial University.
Virginia P. Hayes, a seasoned business professional with more than 20 years of knowledge in executive support and office system management. She currently serves as president of the Women’s Auxiliary for the Florida General Baptist Convention, Inc. She also serves as a financial advisor (contractor) for the Mills Child Development Center, a Baptist-affiliated private school serving pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Hayes holds a bachelor of arts degree in Business and Accounting from Rollins College and a bachelor of science degree in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University.
William C. McCormick Jr. is the CEO of two successful organizations in Sunrise: 4KUS Consulting Group, a national healthcare and general pharmaceutical consulting firm; and Medivance Billing Service, one of south Florida’s largest African-American owned and operated businesses with customers in multiple states. He brings to the board of trustees a wealth of sales and operations expertise. McCormick has a rich background in managing and growing businesses in various industries. The former NAACP president earned his bachelor of science degree from Florida Memorial University in Business Management and a masters of business administration from Colorado Technical University.
Sergio Pereira president of Meridian International Group, Inc., has held a long career in government throughout south Florida and the country. Pereira has served as Miami-Dade County manager, city of Miami manager and was appointed by former President Jimmy Carter as his special advisor for refugee matters. Pereira also is vice chairperson of the Little Havana Activities and Nutrition Centers, and serves on the board of directors for the Nat Moore Foundation and the South Florida Golf Foundation.
