FORT LAUDERDALE — Excitement is building for the Caribbean Jazz Matazz, a fusion of jazz, reggae and calypso music, Saturday, Sept. 28 at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
Proceeds will provide scholarships to deserving students to attend the University of the West Indies. Caribbean Jazz Matazz will feature famed saxophonist Arturo Tappin from Barbados, renowned steel panist Leon Foster Thomas from Trinidad & Tobago, jazz guitarist Eugene Grey and vocalist Gem Myers from
Jamaica.
Making a special appearance and adding to the dynamic blend of smooth jazz, rhythmic calypso and off-beat reggae influences is the renown, award-winning Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, which continues to shine as the premiere high school jazz band.
