MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dennis C. Moss and the Miami-Dade Police Department are hosting a Safer Communities Gun Buy Back Event on Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Goulds Park Gym, 11350 S.W. 216 St. in Miami.
Anyone may drop off a firearm — with no questions asked, officials emphasized. In exchange for turning in a gun, individuals may receive a gift card(s) up to $200 per gun. Free gun locks for safe gun storage will be provided while supplies last.Residents are asked to bring all firearms unloaded and in the trunk of a vehicle.
“I encourage residents to come out and support our efforts in making this community a safer place for our families and children,” Moss said. “Gun ownership must not be taken lightly. We must continue to educate individuals on the importance of responsible gun ownership and discard as many unwanted firearms as possible in the process.”
In addition to the South Dade regional event, a North Dade regional Gun Buy Back is scheduled to take place the same day and time at the Biscayne Landings sales office, 15045 Biscayne Blvd., hosted by Commissioner Sally A. Heyman.
