MIAMI – The annual Ecumenical Church Service, part of the 40th Bahamas Independence Day Celebrations, is set for July 14, 3 p.m. at Historic St. Agnes Episcopal Church, 1750 N.W. Third Ave, Miami.
Bahamian Independence Day celebrates home rule in the Bahama Islands, which began at 12:01 p.m. on July 10, 1973 when the Bahamas gained total independence from Great Britain and became a sovereign nation, ending 325 years of British rule. The islands are now a commonwealth, with their own prime minister and parliament.
