LAKE WORTH — Palm Beach State College (PBSC) will hold its fifth annual Green Expo on Saturday, May 4, giving individuals and families an opportunity to learn about resources and get tips on how to become more eco-friendly.
The free community event, open to the public and hosted by Palm Beach State’s Center for Green Construction and Energy, will be held 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Education and Training Center on PBSC’S Lake Worth campus, at Lake Worth Road and Congress Avenue.
Organizers say attendees can learn how to reduce environmental impact, increase their awareness of greenhouse emissions and climate change and learn how to contribute to a healthy planet. Government agencies, nonprofit groups, businesses and other exhibitors will be on hand to display environmentally friendly products as well as provide information on many “green” resources.
Free sustainability and green living workshops also will be held throughout the day.
Among the presenters, Missy Strauss, co-founder of the Our Greener World radio program about healthy living, president of TangibleGreen and a PBSC adjunct faculty member, who will discuss “greenwashing.” Eugene Fagan, a Florida Registered Architect and PBSC adjunct professor of REVIT (building design software), will discuss the benefits of using REVIT for sustainable construction.
There also will be information about green trades, programs and related offerings at the college.
