FORT LAUDERDALE — ChildNet recently hosted an Intracoastal evening cruise aboard the Bottom Line motor yacht for the ChildNet Circle of Supporters, a fundraising action group of advocates and partners.
During the cruise, which was underwritten by Bill Mahoney, owner of the Bottom Line, ChildNet unveiled a new fundraising campaign to support sibling groups in need of an adoptive home, teens in need of support transitioning into adulthood, children and toddlers in need of a loving foster family and infants in need of the comfort of loving arms.
ChildNet has been chosen by the Florida Department of Children & Families to serve as the Community Based Care (CBC) lead agency in both Broward and Palm Beach counties. It is the single private non-profit entity responsible for administration of the local child welfare systems in each county.
The agency’s mission is to protect abused, abandoned and neglected children in the communities it serves by managing comprehensive networks of child welfare services providers and, in Broward, by also serving as the single centralized child welfare case management provider.
“On behalf of ChildNet, I want to thank our very dedicated Circle of Supporters whose fundraising activities continue to be instrumental in bringing the community together to enrich the lives of Broward and Palm Beach County’s most vulnerable children,” said Emilio Benitez, ChildNet CEO and president.
ChildNet Board Chairman Joe Rogers, who was a foster parent and now is an adoptive parent, said he “raised four children then opened my heart and home to a nine-month-old who I eventually adopted. When his siblings needed a home, I knew I had to keep the family together,” Rogers said. “I thank ChildNet for my extended family, as they do an amazing job of providing every child in their care with stability and a life they deserve. Together we can all make a profound impact on the life of a child.”
