FORT LAUDERDALE – On Jan. 18 the YMCA of Broward County will welcome nationally noted Martin Luther King lll to commemorate the local work and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The Y will bring more than 500 community and business leaders together at 7:30 a.m. for the annual breakfast to benefit the YMCA cause of fostering unity and equality in people of all faiths and backgrounds, at the First Baptist Church, 301 S. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

Martin Luther King lll, the oldest son of the late Martin and Coretta Scott King, began his tenure as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1998 where he aggressively fought injustice on many fronts.
The SCLC convened police brutality and racial profiling hearings in several states that led to the passage of anti-racial profiling resolutions. He has led protests against the digital divide in the field of technology and has spoken to the United Nations on behalf of individuals living with the challenges of AIDS.
