The Orange Bowl partnered with local schools to drive donations for the Kicks for Kids program, which provides disadvantaged children a proper fitting pair of athletic shoes so they can participate in youth sports and exercise.

North Dade Middle School and Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center in Miami-Dade, and Sunset Lakes Elementary School and McArthur High School in Broward collected the greatest number of shoes and will each be awarded a $2,500 grant from the Orange Bowl Committee.

To conclude the weeklong Kicks for Kids School Challenge, North Dade Middle School encouraged students to donate by hosting a school dance.  Students were admitted to the dance, which included an appearance by official Orange Bowl mascot Obie, by donating a pair of sneakers to Kicks for Kids.
