State officials are proposing to change the state's existing license plate to make it easier to catch people caught on camera running red lights. The new plate would be rolled out to motorists in 2014 and 2015.

But the state may also change how motorists get their plates.

Elected tax collectors who hand out plates say they don't object to changing the tag. But they are warning against any plan that would give a private company control over shipping plates to motorists.

Leon County Tax Collector Doris Maloy says consumers could pay more since some counties do not currently charge mailing fees. She also says it could take longer for motorists to get their tags.
